Therapeutic Copper Ion Infused Fabric

Each fabric comes with unique qualities that determine what purposes it is well suited for. In the case of therapeutic copper ion infused fabric, the unique combination of characteristics makes it a fantastic choice for comfort, performance, and health alike.

Rayon and Bamboo

Rayon and bamboo fibers make up the majority of this textile’s body. Rayon is an interesting fabric as it’s not quite synthetic but not quite natural either—it is made by processing naturally occurring cellulose from wood pulp and, in the case of this fabric, bamboo. The resulting fibers are used to make a fabric that is delightfully smooth to the touch and is very cool as it does not retain body heat. However, some forms of rayon are considered to be lacking in strength. When bamboo is used in the making of rayon, the final product has improved durability. It also helps the rayon to better absorb moisture (including sweat) and allows it to evaporate easily.

The Addition of Copper Ions

Copper is an amazing element and is necessary for human health. It’s naturally found in our bodies (about 0.6 to 0.95mg per pound of body weight) and a copper deficiency can make us feel sick. We get the copper our bodies need to thrive from the foods we eat (and sometimes from supplements) but there are also external ways to use copper to improve our physical wellbeing further.

Copper itself is anti-microbial and anti-fungal and is sometimes used in topical anti-microbial medicines, antiseptics, and hygiene products exclusively for this reason. When used to treat skin conditions caused by fungus or bacteria, the copper helps to destroy the invaders so that the skin can heal itself. Scaling, bruises, and scrapes have all been known to respond positively to treatments containing copper and often heal more quickly with the element’s assistance. Because of its efficacy, some manufacturers are now making copper-infused fabric products meant to be worn directly against the skin to promote similar healing benefits.

Even if you don’t have skin conditions like the ones listed above, copper can be used to improve the appearance of skin. With the advantages that copper offers, some beauty companies have created anti-aging creams to include the ingredient to help improve skin tone and give it a healthier look. Copper ion-infused fabrics are sometimes used for this purpose as well; socks, undergarments, and bedding are available in this therapeutic fabric and are said to enhance the appearance of skin.

Aside from the advantages it offers to skin, copper contributes to the performance of fabric as well. Because copper itself is anti-microbial, germs—including odor-causing ones—cannot thrive on or in copper ion infused textiles. This means that clothing, bedding, and other products made from this amazing material remain free of unpleasant scents longer and require less frequent washing. In fact, the founder of a copper-infused fabric manufacturer wore the same copper ion-containing socks every time he went golfing for two years without washing them a single time! This is an extreme example but goes to show the difference that the addition of copper can make.

Copper Ion Infused Mattress Fabric

About a third of your life is spent in bed—why not get the most out of that time by sleeping on a mattress with therapeutic properties? AmoreBeds.com offers wonderfully comfortable foam mattresses with the option of copper ion-infused fabric so you can provide your skin with traces of copper while getting a great night’s sleep. Bamboo rayon is a luxurious material and is often used in premium bedding but these can come with a hefty price tag, often reaching upwards of $300. For just $100, your new mattress can be upgraded to bamboo-rayon with the added benefit of therapeutic copper ions.
Sleeping on a mattress that is made with these innovative textiles is a great way to incorporate its beneficial qualities into your life. It allows you to easily spend hours close to the copper every single night so that you can feel the results for yourself.

  • What about bedbugs does the copper ions keep them at bay

  • I recently saw an ad for a copper “tool”, a small hand~held thing that’s inserted into your nose when you feel a cold coming on… if you catch it in time you can actually “cure” the cold! Copper is quite amazing. But how effective is a copper infused bed cover when you’ve got several layers of fabric (mattress pad, sheet, clothing) between It and Your Skin?

    • That’s why we put the copper in the fabric which is as close to your body as possible. It will still have benefits that will make it through a set of sheets and pajamas, but for those other mattress companies that are using copper foams, covered by a fire-sock followed by a quilted cover, you will not see any benefits from that copper scenario.

  • Is there silica added or any other type of additive to make the bamboo cover fire retardant? What is your thought on the fire retardant socks now used to replace fire retardants? Most of these contain glass or fiberglass fibers, does this bed contain glass fibers in the fire retardant? Im asking because while companies call it non toxic, if one is allergic to fiberglass, it seems the bed would cause a reaction. ( all beds that use the popular FR sock)

    • The silica is only in the Natural mattress and is blended into the organic wool for a little extra fire protection that was needed with this design.
None of our designs use a fire-sock or contain any fiberglass. We have not had any complaints from any of our mattresses causing any allergic reactions.
Even folks who have said they were allergic to latex and wool have not had any complaints. Our wool is organic and the allergen oil from the wool has been removed.
Our latex is pretty well separated by our quality 320 GSM fabric (and wool layer) and will likely never come in contact with your skin.

  • Why did you switch from Talalay to Dunlop laytex???

    Reply
    • The Dunlop is GOLS certified organic where Talalay is not. Our Dunlop is Carbon Neutral to help reduce our Carbon Footprint. It also has a little more density that we have found more customers prefer.

so copper goes through the sheets to your body?

    Reply
    • Yes, the copper will still be effective in providing for a healthy sleeping environment. The copper is not there to absorb into your body to help with arthritis or anything like that. It’s there as a natural means to help provide for an anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial sleeping environment. Other’s use chemical sprays to achieve this, but we prefer to go the more natural route. But yes, the closer to the body, the better. Some companies put their copper in the foams way below the fabric which will not do anything worth while.
