New Graphite Latex Foam Hybrid Mattresses Rock!
Over the last few decades, foam mattresses have become quite popular leading to frequent developments and improvements in the industry. And now, hybrid mattress designs are on the rise in which foam and innerspring designs combine to make the ultimate sleep experience.
Foam mattresses today have come a long way from what they were at the time of their creation: innovation has transformed foam from brittle to soft, made flaky foam strong and durable, and greatly reduced the smell of foam so there is little to no scent at all.
The Trouble with Traditional Foam
One complaint that occasionally comes up about some modern foam mattresses, however, is that they can become quite warm. With traditional gel foams, the release of heat is dependent on the cells of the foam remaining open.
The open structure allows warmth to move through the mattress and exit the foam which keeps the material cool. However, when an individual lies on the mattress and the foam becomes compressed, this process is hindered.
Compression causes the cells to close and makes it more difficult for warmth to escape, trapping the heat under and around your body and potentially causing an uncomfortable temperature.
Adding Graphite for Better Conductivity
Thankfully, industry leaders are always looking for ways to further improve foam mattresses and the addition of graphite to foam has been shown to greatly improve the release of heat. Graphite is a natural conductor meaning that energy—such as heat—can easily move through it.
The structure of the foam is essentially the same as that of traditional foam so, when not compressed, it functions in a similar way, allowing the transfer of heat through open cells so it can rise and leave the mattress. With the addition of graphite, this process can be carried out more rapidly.
The most significant difference is seen when the graphite-containing foam is compressed: as the cells in the foam are pressed closed, the graphite particles are forced together and form a path. This conductive pathway allows heat to move through the compressed foam into uncompressed areas where it can be released from the mattress via convection.
Graphite Infused Latex Foam
Technology has brought along a new and exciting material to the mattress world. The introduction of graphite-infused latex foam combines the excellent characteristics of latex foam and enhances the cooling properties with the addition of graphite.
Latex foam already has natural cooling properties with it’s open-cell structure and responsiveness. The addition of graphite provides the mattress with a nonabsorbent material that helps it stay dry and cool.
Choosing the Best Hybrid Mattress
Foam mattresses vary from brand to brand and there are many products on the market made with standard traditional foam. For an innovative hybrid mattress that takes advantage of graphite’s excellent conductivity to release heat more effectively paired with the support and breath-ability of pocketed coils, take a look at the fine products at Amore Beds.
Choosing a graphite latex hybrid mattress will help keep you cool and promote a better night’s sleep so you can wake up feeling rejuvenated and ready to conquer the bright day ahead.
