When you think of copper, you probably think of plumbing, fixtures, and wire. While all of these things are great uses for copper, did you know that it’s also an essential trace element that you need in your diet?  And did you know that it has some amazing benefits that you may not have considered when used in textiles, as well?  Check out just a few of the many incredible and surprising benefits of copper.

Copper is Antibacterial and Antimicrobial.

It naturally destroys a lot of harmful microbes and bacteria, including E-coli, various fungi, and numerous other bacteria. When bonded with textiles, copper ions can inhibit the growth of these bacteria and microbes, preventing odors from developing. A mattress that’s made with copper ion bonded fabrics will likely last much longer than one that’s made with normal textiles because the copper will act as a natural bacterial and microbial inhibitant.

This is great news for people who are allergic to some of the antibacterial treatments that some textiles manufacturers use. It gives you a non-chemical, non-synthetic means for your mattress to resist the growth of bacteria and allergens so that you can sleep soundly at night.

Can it Really Help Me Look and Feel Younger?

Copper isn’t just great for preventing bacterial growth in your mattress. It’s also a strong healing agent. Basically, you need to have some trace copper in your diet to help your body form collagen. Collagen is not only essential to the production of the elastin that keeps your skin firm and youthful, but it’s also essential in the healing process for bones and connective tissue as well.

Just drinking water out of a copper pitcher or coming into contact with copper regularly (like when you sleep on a copper ion bonded mattress) can have significant positive effects on your health and your appearance. These ions can help your body produce more collagen, which can improve the look and feel of your skin, as well as speeding up your body’s healing processes. Want to look younger without doing anything drastic to your diet or lifestyle? Try sleeping on a copper ion infused mattress.

Copper Can Help Prevent Osteoporosis

As women get older, they face the very real threat of osteoporosis. While you’ll usually hear about the importance of getting enough calcium to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis), the body needs some help to put that calcium to use instead of taking calcium from the bones. Copper, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D are all extremely beneficial to this process.

It Can Act as an Anti-Inflammatory

Copper is and has also been found to be surprisingly effective when used as an anti-inflammatory. It can be used to treat aching joints and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, and it doesn’t have the damaging effects on the liver that aspirin and other nSAIDs (non-steroid anti-inflammatories) can have.

These are just a few of the many surprising benefits of copper. You can see now how sleeping on a mattress with copper ions bonded with its textiles could be beneficial to your health and well-being.

Does the benifits of the copper go through the mattress cover?

    Reply
    • The benefits will still be enough to go through a sheet and pajamas, but if you use a mattress protector, it will negate the benefits to the human body. It can still be good for warding off bacteria beneath the protector though.
